Singaporean pay-TV platform StarHub will dedicate six channels to the Beijing Olympics, making them available free to all digital customers and those with cable HubStations and high-definition (HD) set-top boxes.
Olympics 1 to 6, to be carried on StarHub's channels 601 to 606, will run daily from around 8am ( Singapore Time ) until midnight, carrying a variety of live and delayed programming, including matches and events as well as dedicated coverage of the Singaporean contingent.
"As Singapore's leading sports provider, StarHub shares our local viewers' passion for sports," said Adit Harinasuta, head of services and solutions for the platform. "We want viewers to be able to truly experience the games and immerse themselves in it, even from the comfort of their homes. We are proud to set new standards of Olympics broadcasting with six free TV channels dedicated to the games a first for StarHub and for Singapore."
The six channels will be streamed live to StarHub's mobile platform, available free to all StarHub Mobile post-paid customers with 3G or 3.5G handsets, while a mobile TV client application will be available for download on other selected handsets from August 6.
Further Olympics coverage on StarHub will include HD programming on MediaCorp's HD5 and on Preview Channel ( Channel 01 ) .
